LFC and the Transfer Window – We’ve done OK.

So the transfer window has closed, and the over the top drama that is deadline dat is over. We have had plenty of action throughout On the last day a lot of people were all talking shite about we didn’t do anything, Clint Dempsey this, Carroll that. But if we break it down, it looks quite good.

in

Fabio Borini (FWD) From Roma (£11m)

Joe Allen (CM) From Swansea (£15m)

Oussama Assaidi (AM) From Heerenveen (£3m)

Nuri Sahin (CM) From Real Madrid (Season loan)

Samed Yesil (FWD) From Bayer Leverkusen (£1m)

Out

Nathan Eccleston – To Blackpool (Unknown)

Charlie Adam – To Stoke City (£4m) (Wooohoooo)

Jay Spearing – To Bolton Wanderers (Season loan)

Andy Carroll – To West Ham United (Season loan)

Craig Bellamy – To Cardiff City (Free)

Alberto Aquilani – To Fiorentina (Undisclosed)

Dirk Kuyt – To Fenerbache (£1m)

Maxi Rodriguez – To Newell’s Old Boys (Undisclosed)

Fabio Aurelio – To Gremio (Free)

Henoc Muckendi – To Northampton Town (Season loan)

Stephen Darby – To Rochdale (Free)

David Amoo – To Preston North End (Free)

Toni Silva – To Barnsley (Free)

The quality (not quantity) of ins far outweighs the outs, it would have been great to keep Kuyt and Maxi but they both felt it was time to go and I couldn’t blame them, Carroll going as well was a debatable decision. Everyone knows he has quality but he didn’t fit in with Rodgers view and style, and on the upside we didn’t sell him, he is out getting more experience (he is still young, remember) and West Ham are paying the wage.

And the business with Dempsey…so what? If he is the kind of player that will refuse to play, do you want that type of player playing for you? I don’t.

And how good is it we’ve finally got rid of Adam? If you’ve read some of my earlier blogs you’ll know I’m not a fan and I was over the moon we got him out the door for £4m. Another player who’s nightmare is over is Aquilani, a player who I always thought deserved a chance and I am so glad he has been given a transfer and a fresh start to get his career back on track after what looks like a complete waste of time at Liverpool. A shame, but it’s over now and he can move on.

So to conclude, we’ve had a good window, we could have done with maybe one more striker, but overall we have done some decent business. Much better than most clubs, so a lot of fans need to calm down a bit. We have plenty of cover.
