It was a cracking game that sadly finished 2-1 for United but it was a brilliant game to watch and frustrating at the same time. Like the title suggests it was a Jekyll and Hyde performance after a shocking first half and a brilliant second half but it was too little too late.

Liverpool did not get out of the blocks and went to Old Trafford and defended and allowed United to attack, big mistake and we were duly punished by the in form van Persie after some lax defending from Agger, could have done better but can’t take it away from United who were asking questions after a good spell of possession.

The second half, however was all Liverpool as we brought on Sturridge who was clearly itching to get on the pitch, and after a De Gea spill, put the ball in the back of the net to begin a 30 minute spell of Liverpool pressure, however the final ball was absent and the game ended 2-1, United probably deserving of the 3 points but a lot of positives to take for Liverpool, particularly for Sturridge.

Joe Allen however, will leave the game disappointed as it was arguably his worst performance, it was just not his day and was more of a hindrance than a help for the Reds. Other notable performances were Glen Johnson and Andre Wisdom who wrote both outstanding for us.

Next stop Norwich, where we will need to get back to winning ways to ensure we don’t continue to slip down the league.
